At The Body Bar, our approach to skincare goes beyond the surface — and that includes a technique called face mapping. Rooted in ancient practices and modern skin science, face mapping gives insight into what’s happening inside your body by looking at patterns on your skin.
What Is Face Mapping?
Face mapping is a method that divides the face into zones — like the forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin — each of which is believed to correspond to internal organs and systems. By observing where you’re experiencing breakouts, dryness, or sensitivity, we can begin to uncover possible root causes.
A Quick Guide to Facial Zones & Meanings:
Forehead: Often linked to digestion and stress. Congestion here may point to poor sleep or an overworked mind.
Cheeks: These areas are tied to the lungs and respiratory health. Breakouts could be related to allergens or even your phone pressing against your skin.
Nose: This zone reflects your heart and circulatory system — redness or blackheads here may be due to diet or blood pressure fluctuations.
Chin & Jawline: Hormonal imbalances often show up here, especially related to stress or menstrual cycles.
How We Use Face Mapping in Your Facial
During your facial, our estheticians take note of where imbalances show up and tailor your treatment accordingly. For example, if you're breaking out on your jawline, we may choose soothing, hormone-balancing products and ask a few questions about stress or cycle changes.
It’s About the Big Picture
Face mapping isn’t a diagnosis tool — but it is a helpful guide that allows us to treat your skin holistically. Our goal is always to work with your body, not just on it.
